2025 MAZDA CX5 DiFFERENT ?
I owned a 2022 non-turbo 2.5L CX-5 and now have a 2025 non-turbo 2.5L. Short version (and THANKFULLY!) they drive exactly the same.
I loved my 2022 CX-5 Preferred. For me it was comfortable, the materials are very nice, the seats felt great, the engine and transmission totally smooth and not loud at all. It had just the right amount of tech for me - power seats, memory, power hatch, LED headlights, adaptive cruise, AWD. It was my first Mazda and I leased it not knowing if I trusted it or wanted it long term. The truth is availability was really limited at the time of purchase and I drove it and thought "this will do." The lease turned out to be a blessing because I hit a deer about 8 months ago. It was minor damage and was reported and repaired in accordance with my lease demands. By really minor I mean about $6500 worth of repairs to the front passenger side. I had been planning to buy out the lease but wondering about all that exposed wiring during the repair process had me nervous. I decided to turn it in and purchase a new 2025 CX-5 this time in Premium Plus.
After driving the 2025 Premium Plus for about 3 months and 2800 miles, I am pleased to report it has lost nothing from 2022 to 2025. It rides just as smooth, the engine is just as peppy, and fuel economy is nearly the same. Maybe economy is a hair down but it is winter so expected. The only difference between the 2022 and 2025 is the 2025 has i-stop. It doesn't both me much. I hoping to have a long, respectful relationship with this one and no deer interactions!

Maybe when you drive a 25 -- we can talk - My experience driving these vehicles and the obvious alterations make me very happy - and its the absolute finest CX5 Ive driven so far -- wont trade this one in --- ad Im happy to pay for the hit to drive 30K miles and get a new car if I I want more options or whatever -- I had no idea the drivetrain was this much improved - --Mazda has made incremental changes to the CX5 drivetrain every year -This year they did announce the Suspension upgrade- but go test drive a 25 and then drive any 21-24 - you will see --- As well if Mazda has completed the drivetrain improvements for the new 26 body -- why say --hey everyone --the 25 has the new 26 drivetrain and we want to see how it goes and possibly retweak it even more before the release --- and they might ---Not good marketing

Wait - The " only difference between the 22 and 25 is i-stop " ? Have you opened the hood ? You are saying it looks exactly the same as the 22 ? You had wireless phone charger and wireless BT in 22 ? - You had a touch screen in 22 ? .I -Active AWD in 22 ? G-force vectoring ? .Im not going to continue ---but it sounds like you didnt get a 25 -
If you have a CX5 use premium gas -- I believe the engine is more than just mapping diffrences --its the X--of course unless you didnt get the 2025-1/2 early models were the same as the 24s
19 Reasons You Must Wait for the 2025 Mazda CX-5 - Dal Motors

As for the OP you directed your comments to I would ask that you both open the driver's door jam post the last 6 digits in your VIN and also the EXACT month and year production dates and toss in which country that the Mazda was manufactured in.
The "buck" stops there" so to say answering those simple questions.
Why don't you post a picture of your new Mazda and remove the engine cover?

So don't get excited that you caught me making a mistake.. hahahahaha

I have already had a customer stop by to show off (have me blow smoke up his **** how great it is) with his 2025 Mazda CXs he tossed me the keys to take it for a spin and when I returned, I popped the engine cover and praised how nest it was. I keep asking for members(one specific) to post his own picture for reasons I think you of all members understand why? hahahaha!
Um pop the engine cover off and take a picture cuz most of that engine compart does not look to different from earlier 2.5s ??
I don't really get to see in person 2025 model anything until they are generally out of or close to being out of warranty.
And no platform and new model interest me enough for me to rome around a dealership and have the keys tossed to me to drive any.

its the X engine as Mazda isint making massive changes for a few months late in the 2025 model year .....then another engine in the 26 called X - this be it - mileage improved - power improved - runs much smoother-its got that extra power the previous years lacked- the early 25s had the old setup - Mazda does things like this - im betting this is mating to the hybrid drive system in the 26 - should be interesting to see - i still contest Toyota had a hand in it - cant prove it however

must be X engine cuz its screamin quick compared to my 22-& 23 -
But we all will see.
Look dude I am impressed that Mazda actually is still in the POWER making gasoline engine games at least for a few more years. And you get to be one of the first to own and play with it. I am sure it already has exceeded your expectations which as it should be for what you paid for it.
