2025 MAZDA CX5 DiFFERENT ?
retread ….. First lets me be clear the power information by Mazda is not what the model whp actually produce in the real world . so tossing around those numbers and WILD theories about how they got there unless a few have spent the time and $ to get some Dyno testing your credibility to support your responses is diminishing very fast. I have done numerous Mazda over the years and recently at least now about 15+ on my own Mazda . I can state with out any question as well and contacting any shop that does DYNO may even tell you real world results Mazda exaggerates the engines power but then we don’t know how they rated their power because Mazda does not tell you where the numbers came from. And there is a lot of discrepancies over the production years with using the same engines.
As for the intake changes they were for improved mpg and lowering emissions not to develop more power? Changing an intake to make more power If it were that easy lol . Most changes move the torque and HP lines around the scale only .
Now if Mazda does some head improvement to which they won’t because the basic head works extremely well in all aspects and changing would not be bean counter cost effective . But head improvement is where there is HP waiting to be unleashed. However because of emission requirements an ECU program to support a better head design would at this time likely increase emissions and reduce Mpg .

Mazda does NOT participate and use the universal worldwide SAE J1349 certification therefore Mazda can state, claim and even advertise in any fashion any power output or otherwise Horsepower and or torque they want!
Basically, but members can read the complete document
About SAE J1349® Certified Power - Standards Development - Standards - SAE International

About SAE J1349® Certified Power
Power and torque certification provide a means for a manufacturer to assure a customer that the engine they purchase delivers the advertised performance. This SAE Standard has been written to provide manufacturers with a method of certifying the power of engines to SAE J1349® or SAE J1995®. Document SAE J2723 specifies the procedure to be used for a manufacturer to certify the net power and torque rating of a production engine according to SAE J1349® or the gross engine power of a production engine according to SAE J1995®. Manufacturers who advertise their engine power and torque ratings as Certified to SAE J1349® or SAE J1995® shall follow this procedure. Certification of engine power and torque to SAE J1349® or SAE J1995® is voluntary, however, this power certification process is mandatory for those advertising power ratings as "Certified to SAE J1349®".
All the fluff goes back to post history. Same user going from 2022 to 2023 with the same engine and transmission said the 23 was so much faster and made the 22 like a dump truck. Same goofy claim made suggesting "hidden" engine changes to the 25. Zero evidence, zero documentation, nothing from Mazda. Just total fluff trying to justify losing your shirt on two year leases like the poors.
Here is info from a windowsticker from a 2025 2.5S PP:
Engine & Mechanical:
SKYACTIV-G 2.5L ENGINE W/CYLINDER DEACTIVATION
187 HORSEPOWER; 185 LB-FT TORQUE
SKYACTIV-DRIVE 6SPD SPORT MODE AT
So.... No difference at all. It may look different, but that doesn't mean it has more power. Obviously. Why would Mazda NOT tell you if it did make more power for 2025?

the question out - i have no hard data except it definitly drives differently - faster , and clearly looks very different - funny i was looking for the turbo after i opened the hood - yea - a baffler

I also see they refer to the 6speed as a "sport"-
So theres extra noise insulation ,retuned suspension- It clearly dosent strain on grades that the previous years 22,23 did - It should be interesting once its fully broken in

Um pop the engine cover off and take a picture cuz most of that engine compart does not look to different from earlier 2.5s ??
I don't really get to see in person 2025 model anything until they are generally out of or close to being out of warranty.
And no platform and new model interest me enough for me to rome around a dealership and have the keys tossed to me to drive any.

Of course they do. If they list one thing and its something else, there would be a lot of legal issues.
Again, it makes no sense. I agree the picture of your motor has some differences from previous years, but if anything the engine cover looks more generic.
Does your car have the Skyactiv G badge on the rear hatch?

you can post the same hp/ torque #s but thats max output - if you retune an engine -you can have that engine deliver much more power throughout the power band -without more max power - which is seldom used anyway - and thats at minimum evident here- I have not " floored " it yet and wont if I do for some time -
The post was intended to glean information and data from anyone who has seen or read about the changes - and others who actually own one - either early models or late ( in my case build date (11/24) -I may be in a unique position since ive had a new 22 carbon edition , 23 premium and now 25 premim plus - tbe first two driven exclusively by me to 30k miles - So I can repeat - its faster , and literally dosent strain on long grades ive driven many many times - It handles better, quieter ,has slightly more front room for the driver and passengar to the right - Is very smooth in gear change transitions - so thats it -
The 19 changes which were anticipated for 25 appear to be somewhat true and somewhat exaggeration- but I will go on record at 150miles and say its overall the " best " CX5 experience I have had - I would recommend it to anyone looking to get one and definitly say go 25 -its that different -Regarding the turbo 25 - I cant tell you -
