More power is only good if you and your driving skills know what to do with it.
I've beaten many a vehicle driver and motorcycle rider who had more HP than the vehicle I had because they lacked driving/riding skills.
While the CX-5 handles very well in the curves, it is an SUV and not a track or dragstrip fixture.
A few seconds faster in normal road driving has minimal impact whereas a few seconds in braking can mean the difference between impact or not.
If power was our main concern, we wouldn't be driving a CX-5 Mazda.

I owned a 2022 non-turbo 2.5L CX-5 and now have a 2025 non-turbo 2.5L. Short version (and THANKFULLY!) they drive exactly the same.

I loved my 2022 CX-5 Preferred. For me it was comfortable, the materials are very nice, the seats felt great, the engine and transmission totally smooth and not loud at all. It had just the right amount of tech for me - power seats, memory, power hatch, LED headlights, adaptive cruise, AWD. It was my first Mazda and I leased it not knowing if I trusted it or wanted it long term. The truth is availability was really limited at the time of purchase and I drove it and thought "this will do." The lease turned out to be a blessing because I hit a deer about 8 months ago. It was minor damage and was reported and repaired in accordance with my lease demands. By really minor I mean about $6500 worth of repairs to the front passenger side. I had been planning to buy out the lease but wondering about all that exposed wiring during the repair process had me nervous. I decided to turn it in and purchase a new 2025 CX-5 this time in Premium Plus.

After driving the 2025 Premium Plus for about 3 months and 2800 miles, I am pleased to report it has lost nothing from 2022 to 2025. It rides just as smooth, the engine is just as peppy, and fuel economy is nearly the same. Maybe economy is a hair down but it is winter so expected. The only difference between the 2022 and 2025 is the 2025 has i-stop. It doesn't both me much. I hoping to have a long, respectful relationship with this one and no deer interactions!

i agree about the preferred...seems like a sweet spot in the line if you want the basics plus some nice features...i wanted to make sure i didn't have istop, turbo or cylinder deactivation but i wanted the leather and the memory drivers seat...the engine does its job well, not terribly fast but its smooth and gets me where i need to go

But you would be surprised at least in my area how many owners of an SUV seems to want to accelerate a bit aggressive at stop light or want to pass me on a 2 lane road as if to let me know that their Tubo power is "supreme". LOL
They are only second to tesla owners. I tend to leave the SUV owners alone even with my N/A I can't see the point in "spanking" them but a tesla and ya.... if they feel "froggy" I let them know that gas still "TRUMPS" an all electric car. LOL
I still think the Turbocharger size on the Mazda is like soooooo tiny.....LOL At least the parts that count.

As long as it keeps up being reliable, I'm very happy with it .

There are some tricks if you are ever interested but I am not posting them.
I still have not totally decided not to offer a BWT or at least a ported polished and blueprinted unit for the newer Mazda's yet. My marketer seems to think there is an open market right now? Will see.

Do all the trim groups for the 2025 CX-5s have the I-Stop? I didn't notice it during my test drives and was told they didn't have it on the premium plus. Can it be deactivated permanently or must it be shut off each time. Hate that damn thing.

3750 you must order the ECU tuning kit and cable pack. But still that’s a good price . If there claims are accurate they would make more power then my Mazda. But it is not CA legal and the transmission in stock build would never last. That was the main reason I stopped were I was at. Which now that I think about it is another reason why the claimed trap speeds may be fudged a bit. But who cares as some stated no one really is going to driving a cx-5 like a sport or drag car anyway .
