Where are you getting the info the engine "must be an X engine?" You seriously think Mazda would put an entirely new motor in the CX-5 at the very end of its run and NOT advertise this? How stupid would that be as it most certainly would have better efficiency and possibly power as well. I drive a 20 Nissan Frontier. Nissan decided to put the drivetrain for the next gen '22 Frontier (D41) into the previous gen (D40) starting in '20 (it extended to '21 as the D40 stayed around longer due to COVID). Nissan most certainly listed in the specs the new 3.8l V6 with a 9-sp auto which replaced the previous 2.5L I4 and 4.0l V6 with 5-sp automatics. I mean it would be silly not to, right? The new 3.8 has 310hp vs the older 4.0's 260hp. I had no idea about the drivetrain swap until I stumbled on an article. It got me right into the dealer to test drive and ultimately sell my Tacoma to get the Frontier as I wanted the old school truck with the newer powertrain.

I purchased this car before it was made my GOOD friend and posted the engine the day I brought it home -- You had no idea what if anything was different --
thats the difference between us - I dont need to prove I know anything to anyone- --I personally laud Mazda engineers for doing a fantastic job- Its perfect as I expected -- and drives like it- All bet are off for 2026 and I wanted to make sure I had a NA without hybrid - so I have it
-Possibly go to Japan - Hiroshima ? Hofu ? Uijina ? Next time you get some free time - Go there and learn about Mazdas- That is if you can speak Japanese- another challenge
--ITs worth the trip(s) - If not try Irvine Ca --Thats a good start - Thanks for all the reply's and interest -

See this is where you get things not exactly accurate, it was partially Mazda engineers but not all of them so the fantastic job should be for Mazda an auto manufacture and its new model and not just singling out Mazda only engineers? .....
Proving things to members on the forum gains credibility and yours needs a little work?
I don't need to go anywhere, one of my longtime friend is head of the engineering and development department for Mazda. I get all the secret stuff in the works and also many other interesting things that will never be public. LOL Oh and he does not speak Japanese. LOL

You make it sound as if you got the royal tour at the engineering facility at MAZDA somewhere? Care to say which location out of the several dozen they use?
