Default LED’s & PCM’s

is it at all possible that aftermarket LED replacement lights for both the interior lighting and license plate lights could fry or affect a Mazda 6’s PCM?

Unlikely, however, the BCM - Body Control Module - can be affected due the change in power consumption / load.

I'm not going to argue but I was under the impression the LED bulb draws less voltage than the standard bulb. I don't see how it could have a negative effect.

I do know that there are many owners of the Mazda 6 that have replaced the stock bulbs with LED's and there have been zero issues. It is important that the right ones be used.

Understood. I’m just trying to figure out why I had to replace my oem PCM and then 200 miles later have to replace it again. It’s the only explanation I have as I put those LEDs in a day or two before.

The BCM relies on a certain voltage/load, fitting LED's lowers the voltage use/load & this can confuses the BCM. Also the can sometimes spike the BCM.

I'm no expert in electronics, just adding what I know when I can.
