Default seat belt compatibility issue on 91 protege

greeting mazda lovers

i am the proud owner of a 1991 protege with 215,000 miles!

my issue is that the drivers side automatic harness no longer moves to the back position where the seat belt is correctly across your body. it moves halfway and stops which basically means it will not save me in a crash.

i just pulled out the whole harness assembly (trak, small moter etc) from a 1992 protege 323 @ pick n pull

my question is if the one year difference means they are not compatible (yes i know i can compare but trying to save before i buy it).

2nd question: where can i disconnect my horn (it started going off at night!)? the horn is impossible to get to and i cannot leave the light fuse out which also controls the horn. any suggestions?

thx much
dan

Search here and see if the years in question come up:Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

The problem with the horn is most likely caused by a deteriorated foam piece under the horn button. Take the pad off the steering wheel and check. You can fabricate a replacement from packaging foam or such.

thank you for the link to the site. unfortunately i cannot find out of the 92 and 91 belt assembly/track/motor are compatible.they look similar. any idea if one can be swapped for the other as i have found a 92 assembly at junk yard but before i buy would love to know.

one more quick question: is there a way to disconnect the power from both the left and right seat belt assemblies so harness attachements wont move?

thank you
