Default 2001 seat belt issue

Hello all

looking for some help. My 2001 millenia's passenger side belt was eaten by my crazy puppy. Does anyone know if the seat belt is something I can replace, or if I would have to have it serviced by Mazda. Also where would I purchase a seat belt, and whats the price??

Thanks for the help

John

I'd replace it with a new part from the dealer. It's easy to replace the seatbelt retractor, you just have to get behind the pillar trim to get to the retractor. It's only a couple of bolts beyond that. Make sure you torque it down properly.

You could try to get a decent one from a junk yard, but most likely the vehicle is there due to a wreck, at which point the seatbelts from that vehicle are useless.

sstlaure is right on about using a new part and easy to replace. See below for steps on removing the door scuff plates and b-pillar trim. Once those are off then only need to remove 3 or 4 bolts to replace. The upper anchor might require a T50 torx bit to remove. Not sure on that though.
Belt can either be purchased thru your dealer for $224.15 or at www.onlinemazdaparts.com for $181.92. Just use the box #2 labeled Search By Factory Part Number. Passenger front seat belt is part # TC86-57-630-02 for black colored belt. If belt is light gray in color then change last two digits in part number from 02 to 05. If beige in color then change to 80.

Remove front scuff plate by pulling straight up. Four clips hold into position.

Rear scuff plate comes off the same way but only 3 clips to release.

b-pillar trim pulls right off with no screws or hidden fasteners. Just follow arrows 1-2-3.

How different would this be on a 2001 626?

I have the same issue as above.

Probably almost identical...Seatbelts tend to be a commodity that uses a common attachment strategy across numerous vehicle lines. Verify how to take off the pillar trim before you start (some pull straight out, some go at an upward direction, do it wrong and you'll break some attachment clips.)

Yes it is pretty much the same as ssstlaure notes. You will also need to pull off the upper b-pillar trim as the upper adjustable anchor is in the way there.

Start by removing both front and rear scuff plates as shown with Millenia. No different.

The trim just wraps around the weather seal so carefully expand wrapped area and remove.

Once the upper seat belt mounting is removed then pull the UPPER section straight out to release clip and lifte up to disengage the lower hooks.

And finally the seat belt.
