Default CX-50 oil consumption?

I'm interested in buying a new CX-50 with the turbo engine. I won't buy until I'm satisfied I won't have the same problem as the CX-5 owners are having with the new valve seal design. Has anyone heard anything about this? Seems insane to to buy a car with the same exact engine that's giving problems no matter how bad I want one. I've not even read there is any fix for the CX-5 turbo yet.

The last post on this issue in this forum was made on April 23, 2022. I seen very little regarding the issue since then. I have a 2021 CX-5 Signature and so far it's had zero oil consumption. It's been roughly 3000 miles since the last changed and the level has not changed. Could be that the design change made it easier to do something wrong during the installation and some vehicles were affected while most were not. My fingers remain crossed.

The whole thing is peculiar. The info Mazda put out was odd in that they said it was a real issue but didn't know why then said maybe the new seals................then silence. They need to do a follow up to let people know if they have changed the seals or like you suggest put them in incorrectly. I'm afraid they have let the cat out of the bag and maybe a recall is in the cards if they say another word about it so they are just trying to let it go away but it's keeping me from buying one till I get a satisfactory explanmation,

Is this right.......it's only the 2021 and 2022 turbo that were affected?

let me take a step back.............are mazda 2022 models with the turbo also using oil the way the 2021 model does? Did Mazda go back to the old way of making the seals and not announce it? I find it very odd this hot new car is not having more engine info out there

My wife has a 22 Turbo CX-5 now, we drove it over 2,500 miles on a trip and it burned no oil- Hopefully the issue was fixed.

My wife and I just did a 1600 mile trip in the Texas heat. The CX-5 clicked past 9 thousand and has yet to use any oil. Overall MPG was a tick over 27. One leg of the trip, it got 31.1 MPG as calculated with the miles travelled vs the gas pumped. The trip computer said it was only getting 29 MPG. That being said, my fingers shall remain crossed.
