This would be a sure way to have future problems!
The sunroof needs to be completely open about twice a year minimum and completely cleaned lubed and detailed.

To each their own.
I hate running AC, mainly because I don't like it and we don't get that much hot weather here.
That means I open and close mine multiple times daily during the summer/fall and sometimes spring months.
I inspect the track and clean it every couple of weeks and have no issues as of yet.
Nor did I have any issues with any of my previous moon/sunroofs.
As for convertibles and T-tops, that's another whole ballgame.
