Default Map box modifications

I'm toying with the idea of using the map box area to add some gauges (it pisses me off that manufacturers have stopped adding volt meters and oil pressure gauges) and I'm wondering if anyone has some experience with that or even some pictures to share. Thanks!

You mean adding something like this?

Lotek sells them here. As for adding the actual gauges, I can't help you as I have not done this myself.

I have that same gauge pod with AutoMeter digital series gauges. Best gauge pod on the market for our cars.

Yeah, that would work just fine... I actually found that dash pod over the weekend while doing some researching. I'm thinking about going with that...

As for the gauges, what do you all go with? I don't have a turbo so I don't need a boost gauge. I have an auto trans and I'm not going to tow anything so a trans fluid gauge isn't really needed. I typically go with volts and oil pressure but need to fill that third hole, so what would any of you suggest? Maybe oil temp? Or maybe air/fuel ratio? Or I suppose I could go with a second coolant temp gauge but that seems like a waste... Any ideas appreciated! Thanks!

Oil pressure is a definite. I put a coolant temp in mine because I just do trust these dummy gauges that are coming in the newer cars. I guess it is really up to you what you really need or want to keep an eye on.

Thanks Mazmart! If you got a pic I sure would like to see it. Also any tips on running the wires. The way I read it, there is a ready made conduit running down the center of the console. Is that where you ran the wires? I'm going to go electronic to avoid any hot fluids ending up inside the cabin. With my luck at plumbing, I'm sure to have a leak or two!
