Remote locking not working.
Hi all,
I have a 2006 Mazda5 TS2 and the remote locking has packed up. Sometimes it works but more often than not it doesn't. I have tried both fobs and new batteries in both. I then found a 10 step process on-line that involved turning the key to on/of a few times, opening and closing the door and pressing buttons but this seemed to work once but now the problem has come back. Does anyone have any ideas or am I going to have to take it back to Mazda (and presumably pay bundles to get it fixed!)?
Many thanks for your help.
Dackers.

I have the same problem, I literelly have to hold the unlock/lock button for about 20-30secs and luckily it will work but it does not work all the time. I have to repeat the 20-30secs process over and over to open/lock the door. it's very frustrating sometimes.
To the OP. Where did you find the 10 step process to reprogram the key fob? Can you post the link? Thanks.

Try this - hope you have more luck than I did! Oh, it's 9 points not 10! Good luck.
Step 1: Open driver side door and leave open.
Step 2: Lock and Unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door
Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.
Step 4: Turn Key to ON position and return to Lock (off) position. Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. LEAVE key in the ignition in Lock (off) position.
Step 5: Close and open the drivers door 3 times. Leave door open after this step
Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors once.
Step 7: Press any button on remote #1 twice. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.
Step 8: Additional remotes, repeat Step 7 for up to 3 remotes total.
Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series (about 4) of door locks and unlocks. You're done!

Hey Guys I just bought a 2008 Tribute and was told only one key would work and the other would cost $300-$400 to replace. I torn it down and found the little tangs on the side that make contact with the battery was not tight. I bent them out so the battery had to push them out to pop in. This made the battery tight and the key is now working just like new!! Could be your problem as well.

I too have been having problems with my remote central locking - on my 2013 Mazda 2.
I have followed the instructions given on this forum page and, initially, it didn't work. I tried the instructions for a 2nd time and it worked ! How long for, I don't know - but it is progress in the right direction !
Another in a long line of problems - car is six years old and am on my third battery (first one failed at 6 months). Two other faults cropped up (one was a factory recall). Not finding this to be the trouble-free car which was recommended to me !
