Default How to Program Remote Keyless FOB on 2004 Mazda 3

Can any one provide me with instructions on how to program an extra remote keyless entry FOB on a 2004 Mazda 3s? I can't find the instructions anywhere. I've routinely done this procedure for other cars like my Mazda Tribute.

Never mind. Found this in another thread. It worked just great.

----------------------
I found this on the Mazda6 forum and it works for the Mazda3:

http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.ph...mp;#entry55368

Yes, this does work and I actually used it to program a 3rd remote for my Mazda3i (with power door locks). 8)
*NOTE*
Have all the remotes that you are going to be using, maximum of 3, with you when you do this programming as all of them have to be reprogrammed into memory.

Step 1: Open driver side door and leave open.

Step 2: Lock and Unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door

Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.

Step 4: Turn Key to ON position and return to Lock (off) position. Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. LEAVE key in the ignition in Lock (off) position.

Step 5: Close and open the drivers door 3 times. Leave door open after this step

Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors once.

Step 7: Press any button on remote #1 twice. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.

Step 8: Additional remotes, repeat Step 7 for up to 3 remotes total.

Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series (about 4) of door locks and unlocks. You're done!

Sticky this please...

NOTE: Sticky it is. Should it be here or in another section, like the one where you learn how to program a key? Dinu

The timing is important. You need to complete step 4 within 10 seconds. Might also check the battery on the FOB. That's all I can think of. I know I have had good success with this on my 2004 Mazda 3 several times.

Default 2004 Mazda 6 key fob programming

So I have tried the several, slightly different, versions on his and still won't work. I though it could be the fob pad it self so I bought a new and nothing. Step #7 doesn't happen. However I do have a couple of clarifying questions: step 2 locks and unlocks ALL doors not just the driver door? also, after step 3 only the driver door locks and unlocks, the other 3 doors stayed locked? Last, do I press 'any' button or does it have to be the' unlock' button... working 2 fobs now. I also disconnected the battery for 5 min as another thread on this topic suggested, nothing still... any other thoughts??????

In my last post it should say "also, after step 6 only the driver door locks and unlocks, the other 3 doors stayed locked? both fobs have new batteries in them

I'm looking at doing this with my 96 Protégé. I don't have a 2nd key fob but that's not my main concern. The lock/unlock switch that's supposed to be on the door panel is missing. Just an empty hole in the panel. It sounds like this will make it impossible to do the copying process, no?
