Adding an interior trunk release switch on my 2015 Mazda 3 5 door?
I noticed after I bought my 2015 Mazda 3, 2.5 Touring, 5 door that there 's a blanked out switch at the lower left corner of my dash. Turns out that it's the location for an interior trunk release switch as provided on the 4 door versions of the car. I popped off the plastic blanking cover and found a wire coinnector plugged into the cover. So I bought a switch thinking that it will just be plug and play to add on an interior trunk release switch.
I installed the switch last night, the switch lights up when I turn on the dashboard lights, but pushing the button does not do anything. The rear hatch lock does not pop open.....
might it be just a programming thing that could turn on the hatch lock release function or something else I need to do to make it work??

Sorry for reviving this thread, but was wondering if anyone was able to add the hatch switch from a sedan (part # GJR966630A) and get it to work.
We purchased a 5 door last fall, and that's about the only thing we don't like about the car. Would be nice to have an interior hatch release switch.
Thanks,
Carl
