I have a 05 tribute and it wont shift out of park and the brake lights don't go on when I push on the brake... car has auto start does this have something to do with it..? the car has been in 2 differ shops and they said they don't know the problem... if anyone has an idea of what the problem is please im all ears... thanks

 

I had a similer problem with my 2005 Tribute. It ended up being the radiator hose was leaking on the electronic shifter on the transmission. If you take your air filter off (that hooks into the thordal body) you can see where all the hose come together. Under it there is a black object that has a connector going to it. that is what your looking for. See if you have water on it.

 

Will the manual release onto of the steering column not work?
