Exclamation Need help quick

Hey i just got an 89 rx7, im new to the car world and im not sure whats wrong with it... here's the problem... when i try and start it it sounds like its trying to catch and start but it wont, i had started it several times the first few days to let it warm itself up, but since i havent gotten it registered yet i cant legally drive it, then one day i tried to start it and it wouldnt, its had alot of work done to it lately by its previous owner, i'm thinkin it might be the spark plugs but a buddy of mine says it could be the timing. I know i need to get it dyno tuned soon but i really dont have thee money for it, its a sharp looking ride and i would love to get it fixed asap.

Not the timing, and probably no other big thing either... it's flooding, which is a common issue with rotaries - have a look on the forum for that first. Even the RX8 has the problem, something that mazda has never figured out apparently.

I'm not sure if it works on all models, but you need to cut fuel and not the spark. One option is to pull the fuse for the fuel pump, crank the engine and see if it fires, If it fires at all plug it back in before the engine stops again and you should be running fine.

Good luck
