Quick spoiler question. Please help!!
I just bought my first Mazda6 yesterday. It is an 05 Mazda6 i, steel gray metallic.
Anyway, the car that I got did not come with a rear spoiler but I really want to put on the basic rear spoiler. Many sites say that I must have the Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL) cover, if I want to install a spoiler.
Exactly what is the CHMSL? Do I really need it?
Also, how difficult is the spoiler to install? Should I have it professionaly done, or is it something I can do by myself?

RE: Quick spoiler question. Please help!!
Just get the spoiler with the CHMSL in it (Center high mount Stop Lamp). The wiring for the lamp should be buried inside your trunk lid already. (It was on my friend's 6i that I installed a spoiler on about 3 years ago.)
Installation isn't that hard. The spoiler comes with a template that you tape down to your trunk.
Use a good center punch and a step drill bit to get clean correct holes and it is fairly straightforward. make sure to paint the edges of the holes and I used silicone as an added sealer between the trunk and the spoiler.

Just don't plug in the CHMSL that is on top of your package tray (rear shelf.) If you have both 3rd brake lights plugged in you'll overload the circuit. I can't see any reason why you would have to cover the CHMSL in the rear window, as it is just replaced by the CHMSL mounted in the spoiler.
