I have a 2001 Mazda protoge ES 5 speed, lately been having problems with a third gear.
Ifi put it to third and and gave it some gas it kiks out, or when im going up the hill it does the same thing.
can any body tell me what the problem is?

 

you need a new clutch. usually, what happens here is that the clutch goes out slowly and starts to take weak parts of the transmission with it. just so happens that 3rd and 5th are the weakest points. the tranny is just kind of tired right now and needs a slight rebuild along with a new clutch. all that you really need to do is drop in a new set of syncros and a clutch and you will be back in business.
