i have a 94 626 4cyl automatic that the tranny appears to be stuck between 2 gears. thats the only way i know how to describe it. feels like a manual tranny that the linkage is out of adjustment and its in 2 gears. the car goes fine in drive (apparently ) but if im in park, it still want to go forward. same thing in reverse or neutral. im assuming a stuck solenoid? bad tranny controller? other?

 

Odds are extremely high that you have an internal transmission problem. The trans in the 94 and later 626 4 cylinder is very prone to failure due to lack of an external oil cooler. I have never had one apart to diagnose why they fail for a variety of reasons due to being at dealer and they do want us to take apart but only replace and send back to be rebuilt. Is the HOLD light on your dash on or flashing? If so, then this is a sort of check engine light for your transmission.
