We have a Mazda 2002 Protegeand it has been sitting for 2 years with no gas. When I turn the ignition on the fuel pump doesnt tick, but there is voltage to it.

Tried filling the tank half full and let it set for a week and hope the gas would unstick the pump, no luck. Even tried bumping the top near the connections.

Now I need to remove the fuel pump and replace it.

What is the trick to get the lines off?? There is a slot on each side of the plastic clip but it seems no auto parts stores has a tool to do this.
