Default Console Brake Sign comes on when braking.

Heya,

I have a 2002 Mazda Protege and as of late, I've noticed the brake light coming on from time to time- Sometimes for only half a second, other times it will stay on for a minute or two.

The light generally comes on when I am braking/have braked, but I don't have to be braking hard for it to happen.

The brake fluid does not appear to be leaking as it is still right along the reservoir's full line.

It's been coming on more and more often. What do you think could be causing this? Brake pads are roughly 50% worn. Could there be air in the lines? Is a brake sticking/calliper going bad? Bad sensor?

Thanks much in advance!!

The ABS system may be triggering that light too... is there a seperate ABS light?
hitting a bump could do it if there's a wheel speed sensor that's going bad. Are you sure the e-brake isn't moving around, if that's the same light you're talking about.

check your reservoir line again. i had that problem and my brake fluid was low. your sensor that reads if your brake fluid is low is in the back so when your brake hard all the brake fluid goes to the front. if your low it will set your brake light off. its its full. it wont. the full line can be hard to see
