1.8 CAI to 1.6L
Anybody here know if a 1.8 Cold air intake would fit a2000 mazda prog lx with a1.6l engine? The only intake for the 1.6 is now discontinued and unavailable while the 1.8 is readily available hence the questioning
. Thanks for any info!

Thats what I was thinking too but then i looked at the pictures of the 2 close =/. Wanna get a bigger engine but from what i hear the 1.6 handles boost the best for when it comes turbo time.
. haha.
. haha.
You may want to consider building your own intake from universal tubing and fittings for now... or just mod the stock box. That's the easiest thing to do, and the cheapest too.
Mod the stock box in what way? I did take notice the protege has a stock CAI but not in too good of a place right in front of the weather stripping above the grill haha. Better than nothing I guess but I'd like more

i have a friend that has dyno tested the k&n filter versus the stock one and he said there is no change at all. the main thing is that the stock airbox is really restrictive and needs to be removed in order to improve the flow.
I think im gonna buy the short ram intake weapon r as its the only thing like it for the 1.6l till i can one day afford turbo hahaha. im gonna leave the cold air intake that came stock on it to blow cold air into the filter on the short ram too i think, just remove the other parts of the system for the short ram. any ideas on that idea?
ok...i went throught this nightmare of a problem w/ my 2000 1.6dx...i went w/ the short ram cus i live in nebraska and during winter there is snow and summer there is rain so i decided to skip the risk and go short...but i did find a true CAI in my huntings....http://www.importperformance.com/store/RD6050....i found that and it took me about an entire month soooo if you do decide to go with this let me know how it works
