Mazda MX-3 and Mazda MX-6 These two sporty models have become popular cars for import tuners due to the availability of parts, the low price, and the smooth lines.

Default MX3 Stalling. Repl. fuel pump, no better

'92 MX3 kept cutting out and had to have it towed. Replaced the fuel pump this morning, but car still won't start. Any ideas?

Pump working?
Crimped fuel lines
Fuel filter?
Quality of fuel?
Something in the tank blocking fuel flow?

The only time I hear the fuel pump is after I stop cranking the car. Would the pump fail due to a bad relay?

Why are you so sure it is a fuel related problem? have you positively excluded other causes?
Plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, coil, bad gound connection somewhere....

actually reading it again - it would start with any of the above but what would stop it starting are:

Coilpack
starter motor
Battery

Does it turn over but not catch or does she refuse to turn over?

How about giving us mileage and service history. Without these you will get more guesses than answers! We are not mind readers!

Had a local auto shop tow it to their place. They suspect a failed distributor, but are unsure.

The distributor did the trick! Found a used one on ebay that came out of a wrecked but running MX-3 and for about $200 (including tow & labor) am back in business.

There you go!
Distributor cap was 3rd on my list. I think I have to change my list to include the distributor itself.
