I have a 2002 Millenia with the regular 2.5 motor. I'm getting P0431 code - which the dealer tells me is a bad catalytic converter on bank 2. They say bank 2 is closest to the firewall. The parts store says bank 2 is closest to the radiator. I just want to purchase the correct part - I have someone that will install it for me. Should I also get a replacement for the 02 sensor on the manifold (cast is attached to exhaust manifold). I appreciate any help.

Don't buy anything until you do this:

 

Bank 1 is the bank with cylinder #1 in the firing sequence.

1 gal laquer thinner in 1/2 tank of gas, drive it for about 100 miles and give it a few good accelerations with wide open throttle. Also give it a good tune up.

lacquer thinner, not paint thinner.
