Default 1990 engine swap

Hi all unfortunately for me I have a 1990 miata with a bad crank and have tried the repairs without any lomg term sucess. I am now going to find a newer engine. Does anyone know if a 323 1.6litre is the same or should I be looking for a actual used miata engine. thanks all!!

If I was you, I would drop the 1.8L in there. But the 323 motor would be less HP anf torque.

Monster Miata has a 302V8 kit. It's being built on the ESPN2 show Gearz.

I think it would be totally worth it.
