Default 1990 Protoge Radio Swap

I have my new radio and wiring harness ready to install but I cannot get the factory radio out due to the wires beingso short. My radio probably pulls out about two inches once the dash panel and screws are removed and there is no way my hand is fitting back there at that point. This should have been a simple swap but now I'm not so sure.

Is this common with Mazdas? And do I need to take apart the dash to somehow access the wires and antenna from the back of the radio?

Please help, it's driving me nuts having the new radio sitting in my garage and prior to taking apart the dash I'm hoping someone has some helpful advice to offer.

Is there any chance that maybe the Antenna wire is what is too short and it simply requires a slight tug to release it?
