2009 Mazda CX-9 cranks but won't start
I have a 2009 Mazda CX-9 that intermittently will crank but will not start. This problem happens when cold or hot and is very sporadic. When the problem occurs occasionally I can turn it off and wait a minute or two then it will start but this last time I was not able to start it at all. Any help would be much appreciated.

I disconnected the fuel line from the fuel rail and relieved pressure then reassembled everything and it started first try. But it is still and intermittent issue.

Plugged in the code reader and it showed all systems normal with no codes shown. We also took it a step forward and replaced the starter because the gear was getting stuck out and not disengaging, and also replaced all 6 spark plugs with NGK’s. It was fine for a day then this morning we had the same problem where it wouldn’t start. It took a few times attempting to get it to start.

No, I have not tested or measured fuel pressure because when we pulled the fuel line when we first encountered the problem there was pressure and fuel. Also once were able to get it started it runs as it should. Not sure if this helps but I have noticed the first startup of the day has no problems but after driving to a store and trying to start when leaving it has problems.

Did RUMSEYC ever find the problem with his 09 fuel issue? I have an 07 GT 3.5L with the exact same issue. Starts every time except when you let it heat soak for about 10-15 mins (like in a store shopping) then sometimes it cranks but will not start. Vehicle WILL start though if you spray a little brake/carb cleaner into intake hose and then engine will run as normal. Ignition system is all new, fuel is pressure is a solid 50 PSI, PCM had a couple of history codes of both banks too lean. No current MIL light or codes though. I'm thinking fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator may be intermittently failing? Thoughts/ideas anyone?
Thanks
