Here's my new baby I just bought Grand Touring with the works....she was a courtesy vehicle for a driver company, so only had 9K on her as a 2015 when someone traded her in. Went from a white coupe to a black SUV, and I love it. All of the upgrades on it you could ask for were already done...so this girl is happy :-)

Went in planning to get a gray one, but seeing the Grand Touring in black instantly changed our minds. Super sleek looking. We got the tech package. I *love* driving this thing. Wife and I are looking for any excuse to take it out... road trips, random errands.... drive-in movies, whatever!

At work, I've been parking it away from everyone else. I have a little new car paranoia.

Question Looking to buy

So looking to buy my first car and just graduated from college! Looking to purchase a 2015 or 2016 CX-5. I drive about 3 miles round trip for work but then have a 70 mile round trip to go grocery shopping/shopping in general in northern iowa. With the snow/rain how does the AWD work? Jerky like some other cars or a fairly smooth transition?

I am coming from a 2000 ford taurus with 187,000 miles, anything major I would notice differ but shouldn't pay attention to? Also how noisy of a ride is it on the highway? Most of my driving will be at 70-75 mph.

How does towing a small 8'x8' snowmobile trailer affect performance and gas mileage? I would be pulling the trailer with two kayaks and other gear on it!

Thanks for any help!

We've had it a couple of weeks, less than 500 miles on the odo.

I drive a new Mazda CX5 2.0i AWD I'm delighted with its performance. This is a very reliable compact SUV and you certainly will not make a mistake if you buy it. When it comes to consumption, in the combined driving (I tried it on steep inclines, and mountain trails, as well as in the city), real consumption is about 32mpg. If you drive just over the front axle the fuel economy is about 37mpg.

"If you drive just over the front axle the fuel economy is about 37mpg."

I have no idea what 'driving over the front axle' means, care to elaborate?
