Just got the call from the dealer - mine is done and ready for pickup. I have no paint expert I can pay to come inspect it, so I emailed him my concern about others who have had issues afterwards and how I'd prefer to avoid a battle should I find something that's a problem AFTER I've picked it up, so I'm hoping to get some kind of confirmation in email I can use should something happen at least... I'll give it a really thorough lookover regardless, so I'm hoping I'm not one of the horror stories...
Good at the time. I immediately drove it to the Jeep dealer to get a trade value and they came in even higher than I had hoped, beyond KBB trade value.
Paint looks good but yesterday I found that they didn't assemble something right under the right front wheel well, i opened that door, heard a "scrunch" and saw some black liner that is behind the sheet metal on that front quarter bodypanel was pried out by the door. I had a couple fasteners broken on the garage floor. I was able to nudge it in place so it stays, but need to get them to fix that if I have the car long enough, looks like they may have the jeep I want at a nearby dealer and if they can pull it to my local dealer I'll be selling the Mazda today or tomorrow.
I was surprised at the job they did. I checked around the doors as well, to see how they did, and I can't see any obvious defined spot where you can see anything new was done.
Surface all looks about perfect. One thing I realized as I got into work this morning was I hadn't opened the sunroof to look around that inside part to see how it appears, I'll do that later today weather permitting.
If the worst thing was a plastic panel not fastened right I would call it a win, but I also think if that was off, what else may be off that I wouldn't find till later.
I have in writing their assurance that any issues will be handled by both Mazda as well as the dealer body shop at least... But since I'm trading it in that may not be an issue for me...
I have extreme chipping on my 2016 CX3, i just received word Mazda Canada is going to fix the affected areas. Not good enough for me, I want the whole car painted. It is like having two broken bones and only one gets a cast!

From a SRC CX-5 to a Jeep. Have you looked at any published quality ratings in the last ten years? Lotsa’ luck with that move. Sounds like frying pan to fire to me!
ROFL. This CX-5 was my 17th new car in the last 23 years. Jeep will be my 18th. By far my least favorable experiences have been with Mazda. This was my second Mazda, the other was a special edition yellow 2002 Miata. This will be my 5th Jeep. Jeep is the only vehicle other than my one Nissan (Juke) that never had to have anything fixed. So yeah, I know I'll have a lot of luck with this move. Based on experience, not some junk I read in a magazine... Of the only two manufacturers I've ever done more than once, the Mazda has been an utter flop. Jeep? Stellar.
Here's a few pics. I'm hearing that panel in the front right quarter panel moving and thumping a bit on bumps now that it's moving after the fasteners broke off. I also hear a few other noises I never heard before. The paint looks alright, but up near the edge of the sunroof there's sprayover you can see, that's rough to the touch. If I would expect anything to be a point where things might peel or separate, it would be there based on how it feels to the touch...

And so are we to assume this blanket condemnation of Mazda products is based on one poor paint job?
