Yah we aren't planning on upgrading any time soon since the car only has 72k miles and is in great shape other than the rear diff and two gaskets needing replacement. We will potentially explore the trade in route if they won't help out much with the repairs.

But I know what they will do.
This is not to say you won't get treated unfairly?
I've heard about dealerships having employee discounted prices in general, but I'm not sure how much it tends to take off the MSRP price. I'd guess it's around 10% but that's not anything official.

It’s not a standard 10% and not sure where that universal employee discount of 10% ever got started regarding any business regarding employee discounts.
MSRP is totally different subject as is what really does that vehicle cost any dealership anywhere, cuzzzz contrary to the widespread belief it’s not the same between any two of the same dealerships on most all platforms .

But that another thread topic

Iam sure you will get a result that at least you can live with and maybe even be happy with. At least that’s what I hope for you.

I ended up finally talking to another case manager today. The guy needed a clear understanding of the situation, and asked us to email him the paperwork we have from the dealership showing the issues on the car. He's going to make contact with the dealer to confirm the whole diagnosis of the rear diff and valve + timing cover gaskets and start an after warranty work order. He made it sound very confident that Mazda will more than likely help us out, so we'll see what happens!

Interesting …I have to only wonder why your dealership did not process this to Mazda corp?
If it were me I would contact the service manager and bring him up to speed and then casually ask why the dealership did not do this in your behalf. But be nice and verbalize like you are just wondering…..sorta like not getting info from a forum. Lol

From what I understand, You have to get the case with Mazda HQ started, talk to a case manager who will then get you connected to another one in your state where your chosen dealer is, and then they will reach out to your dealer that the car was diagnosed with the issue(s). I'm hoping we're at the last step so the car can finally get repaired lmao. My girlfriend has barely driven it so that it gets minimal wear and tear until repaired.

Not sure where you got that procedure. It is not what Mazda has me do when I get assigned warranty service or possible warranty service that needs pre approval after I evaluate it.
But you got to follow what the person that you feel is helping you on what the procedure is for you.
And hope that it goes in your favor or at least a good service reduction credit in case it won’t be completely covered?

It's how they have described the process thus far. It's definitely a bit confusing, but we should be pretty much at the point of the HQ and dealer talking to see what will happen.

The Georgia case manager got all the paperwork sent to the dealer, but something was missing I guess. Everything got resubmitted so we're just waiting for the dealer to look it over again and approve it (as far as I understand). We're really hoping this gets decided by next week since the rear diff sounds terrible and probably won't last much longer. My girlfriend hasn't been taking her car unless her parents are away with the other car.

I have never read a Mazda customer having to jump through so many hoops....
I would have spoken directly with the "case manager" names dates and times for documentation. expressed you concern about the daily driver that is essential for your reliable means to get to work and home and if they can't give you better answers ask for the next higher person in the department. As for the dealership deciding it not up to them except if they choose to do the warranty work, have the time and have all the necessary shop tools and equipment to do the work or you would be sent to another Mazda dealership or an authorized independent service shop to do the warranty work. But you don't want to cause issues at the dealership level because they could burry rude, obnoxious or demanding individuals to the back of the long line of warranty work which is their purgative. So be nice and humble!
