Default Navigation Sim card

We have an aftermarket SD card on our 2024 CX5 . It worked fine for a while, then after the short warranty had expired, it began to occasionally not come on after starting the car, although the screen does display the GPS co-ordinates. It does not fail most of the time, and has never flickered or stopped working in the middle of a drive . All I can do is take it out , clean the contacts, and it will often come back on, but not always. Is there anything I can do apart from this?

If you got it off Amazon, I'd buy another one and return the old one since it's not working. They're technically pirated so it's not much of a loss for the sellers.

Yes, I did think of that but this item is not listed there any more. I find that it seems to work most of the time and when it does, it works well. As a result I don't think the program is corrupted and maybe has a physical problem that prevents it from connecting properly ? other places have mentioned them not seating properly? Is it possible to transfer them to a blank SD card?

May be worth buying a good quality SD Card, then running a CLONING App, and see if the copied data [from the source card],
works better.

It might be. I have the older TomTom unit in my 2014. I did an image backup of the card and stored it. Several years later, the card went bad and couldn't be salvaged. I got another card and restored the image backup to it and it worked (and still works) fine. However, that card is a different setup than the newer ones and I don't believe that there is an EBay option for the old systems.

You might try, as suggested, cloning the card and then seeing if the new card works. That might solve your problem. Also, if the new card does the same as the old one, you might try running chkdsk on it just to make sure there are no data corruptions. If the new card works properly, run chkdsk on the original and see if that solves the problem.

In any case, it's worth a try and, if it works, you will have a backup card if something goes awry later.
