Default HUD sign recognition

I have the HUD on my 2018 CX-5. The speed limit sign recognition is pulling the data from somewhere else. For instance, if the speed limit sign shows 65, my HUD displays 65 right away and then 2 seconds later changes the HUD back to 55 even though there was no sign that I passed. Anyone else notice this issue? I am thinking it is pulling the data from the navigation and it overriding the sign recognition display.

The 2019 owner's manual indicates that the speed limit in HUD is only available on vehicles with navigation. So I would say it is pulling the info from navi, not from physical highway signs.

Well it has to be getting it from both, because I drive along a 30 stretch of road quite a bit and the speed limit is 65. When I pass the sign it flashes 65 but then within 10 seconds it changes back to 55 until I pass another sign. Then it just goes through changing back and forth again. It is pretty annoying.

I have the same observation. It reads the sign but after a short time, it reverts back to what it has in its NAV database.

I stand corrected. According to the Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) section in the owners manual it is pulling it from both the sign and Navi. It is a little vague on how long it displays the speed limit from the sign before it refers to the Navi database for ithe info.

Not sure since I have been driving on it for the past 2 years or so. It just seems pointless to have sign recognition in the car and then seconds later it being overridden by the navigation.

Might be time for a MZD software update by Mazda.
