how to launch Carplay?
Thank you. That's very handy. The fact that you can connect to the car with Bluetooth, but can't do CarPlay wirelessly, is kinda nuts. It doesn't appear convenient to string a cable out of the USB port, which is hidden in the center box, so I guess I'll probably get that wireless adapter. I'm assuming that, with this device, you are automatically connected if your phone is within range (like for the Bluetooth connection on my CX-05). That is, if I want to use CarPlay, I don't want to have to screw around with my phone. Is that, in fact, the case?
To launch CarPlay on my new CX-5 I must connect to the vehicle using the wireless method using WiFi. This is because the CX-5, on at least my model, has a WiFi connection.
My Hyundai Tucson has the same arrangement for now that has a WiFi service provided by Verizon that is complimentary for three months and optional after.
I don’t know if this same arrangement applies to the Mazda CX-5. I cannot connect to my Hyundai or my CX-5 using Bluetooth to operate CarPlay, only connecting through WiFi can I get CarPlay to operate.
Hope this helps.
