Hello all
my Apple car play works on my 21 CX5 but the audio from my IPhone X won’t play through the infotainment system. The callers name does come up on the screen but the audio comes through my phone.
if any of you out there has a suggestion it will be appreciated.

What if s/he also has an issue with Android Auto? lol

A couple of things, is there another iPhone you can test with (family, spouse, etc) to see if it's your phone or if it's the car?
Do you have Siri turned on with that phone? I know CarPlay doesn't work unless that is enabled.
Can you play audio over Bluetooth? Trying to narrow down the scope of your problem.

 

thank you for your reply. I will check to see if Siri is on and try another iPhone that I have.
audio over blue tooth does work and on this model there is wireless connectivity.

Seriously I worked for Apple and was also the service manager for their local store.
Is it great stuff, sure, but way too expensive and you must buy Apple brand parts as their hardware and software are very expensive and proprietary.
You can honestly purchase much better and faster hardware/software for far less money be it a phone or any type of computer.
Admittedly their software is easy to learn and use but it generally doesn't "play well" with other operating systems.
Which is why I have a Samsung phone and Alienware and Digital Storm PC's/laptops.
