Buy the least expensive kit you can find for the installation parts. Then go to one of the 2 sites I posted and purchase a good strut that will last years instead of months LOL. You will pay more but you will have a good hood strut conversion!

I ended up canceling the order for the Chinese kit and got the Redline one instead. Ordered it Monday evening and it came Thursday. Took about 15 minutes to put it on this morning.

Were the fender washers black and did they come with the kit?

It comes with a pair of these doo-dads. You angle the wedge shaped part through the large opening in the fender then align it so the little raised portion is centered in the hole. They tell you to tighten it by hand before using a 3/8 deep socket to get it tighter. I had no problems at all with the passenger side although the drivers side one wanted to spin around on me at first. (The pic of it is upside down, ball end goes on top.)

OK. Used the big hole instead. Thank you.

Thanks, Dennis. I like the idea of replacing the rod with struts! Can you post the name of the vendor or provide a link?

Much obliged,

The paint was a bit scraped up so I cleaned it up a little and put some Rustoleum 2 in 1 Primer / Clear paint that I had laying around on there. (I could have gone out and got blue Mazda paint, but it's going to be covered up anyway.) I'll let it dry and maybe do another coat before I put it back together.

It probably wouldn't have even been a problem but these are the kind of things that keep me up at night lol. Better safe than sorry.
