Default Has anyone installed one of those hoot strut kits on a 2021?

I topped off the wiper fluid in the new CX5 today and realized I'm not a big fan of that rod to keep the hood up. I'm looking at one of these
Hood Strut Kits Hood Strut Kits
but it doesn't say anything about the 2021. Have they changed the hoods (or what's under them) this year? Has anyone installed one? This youtube video makes the installation process look pretty easy. Might be a good Saturday morning project if it'll fit my new car.

It was fairly ease to install. Got a 2020 but no major changes between the two.
Took less than an hour. The correct socket and ratchet is all you need IIRC.
Got mine off e-bay from a well thought of vendor. Worth every cent.

BTW, does it seem pretty durable? Not something that's going to fall apart too quickly?

I have had a set on my 2013 MX5 for about six years now. I was so pleased with it that I bought a set for my 2014 CX5. The only issue was that they sent the wrong set. I contacted the vendor and told him I would return the one he sent for the correct one. He just sent the correct one, so I have two extra struts now, though no extra mounting brackets. Figured I would keep them as backups in case a strut failed, but they have been working flawlessly.

I would try to find one of the "fulfilled by Amazon" sellers instead.

These kits are NOT all the same. The gas struts in most kits are low quality and will fail when you least expect it. But good news you can easily replace them with high quality struts. Also many of the bargain kits found on ebay and amazon come with standard fasteners that have little or no coating to prevent rust or corrosion. You may also need to replace them at some point depending on where you live?
High quality struts will have a manufacture brand name label or at least model number machined or pressed formed in the main tube body them.
