Hey all. My beautiful car was a victim of a car going through a red light and slamming into me. Does it look totaled? Anyone with experience with similar damage?
I know the damage is extensive and I am actually hoping it is totaled so that I can avoid having a car with near total loss damage. The repair shop it is currently at is telling me it’s a total loss, but nothing is official until the insurance adjuster says so. They are scheduled to look at it on Monday. I’m anxious and would like some opinions while I wait.
I have a tremendous amount of warnings on my Mazda app (engine malfunction, headlight system malfunction, high beam control system disabled, parking break malfunction, emergency lane keeping disabled, front radar sensor malfunction, iACTIVSENSE system malfunction, SBS and FOW systems disabled)
My guess is that it is totaled. If it were a $80k car them maybe not, but but for a car currently worth about $30k, yes. It's not so much the sensor errors, but the parts list. Bumper, fender, hood, headlight, grill, etc. It adds up fast and insurance companies total them when it reaches a certain percentage of value. It's repairable for sure, but it won't be cost effective.
I have the same vehicle a 2023 carbon edition non turbo. Imho with a bend like that i would get rid of it. Even if they did repair it ,i would never trust it . If they don't total it ,dump it . Mazda dealers are having some nice discounts on new 2025 CX5's .
I would want that totaled. That's too much money in parts + having to calibrate all the sensors. If the body shop says it's totaled, that pretty much tells you what you need to hear.
Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what we think, you are in the hands of your insurance adjuster.
Unless the frame is bent, on a relatively new year you will rarely get a "vehicle totaled" from them.
Good luck.
This is really something that the insurance carrier and your exact STATE labor rates are. Also, there are so many factors not seen and only a couple of important ones.
So, voting on this from members on a forum is only self-serving to either feel better or worse and not fact based?
As far as I am aware of, we have no member that is either in the Autobody shop industry or auto insurance that has posted in the years I have been on this forum, and they would be at least somewhat better qualified for information you are asking?
