I've recently bought a CX-5 Carbon edition. Awesome car but CarPlay by wire bugs me. I do understand that in order to have wireless CarPlay following conditions in trim level should be met:
- CarPlay Support by Wire
- Wi-Fi + Bluetooth;
- QI wireless charging;

Carbon doesn't have QI wireless charger so the CarPlay works only by wire. Are there any ideas on how to fix it? I'm 99% sure this is a soft lock.

I don't think its possible to activate wireless carplay on a CX-5 that doesn't have it from the factory. You likely need to buy a dongle, but this will give you what you want.

 

2021 apparently had wireless carplay, but 2022 doesn't. I've been using https://cplay2air.com/ for some time and its works fine, little slow but primarily works excellent.

 

In Canada yes- I think 21's had wireless but we did not get it in the US. No idea why Mazda wouldn't have just made wireless standard as they keep making minor improvements every year.
