Any other options for a CX 5 Turbo oil filter other than the Mazda brand?
Most of us DIY types don't have access or the funds for an deluxe extra special, fancy tool to remove two plastic plugs once or twice
a year. An alternate would be to keep a couple of extra plugs in the tool box JIC.
Not expensive on Amazon.
The stock drain plug is 17mm, though my magnetic plug is 15mm, Of course, the proper box end wrench is
a good idea, but I've used a crescent wrench once without a problem.

And also now even you understand why to always check the size of the drain plug and only use a factory service manual or a program like ALLDATA for accurate informtion. Guessing or assuming things gets people into trouble!!!!
BTW plastic tool sets under 9 bucks LOL

Amazon.com: GLISTON 5pcs Car Pry Tool Kit Auto Trim Removal Tool, Door Panel Clip Removal Set for Vehicle Dash Radio Audio Installer : Automotive
IMHO a very inexpensive investment for both shops and DIY to own!

Next time your in Walmart, compare their synthetic oil specs with premium oil brands specs. You will find for normal driving conditions this is more than adequate, as specs are identical and meet Mazda requirements.
The Walmart synthetic oil cost about $22 Canadian verses brand name oil around $50. I am trying this out for first time. So will see how it performs. Using Mazda oil filter as same price as aftermarket brands.
