Default Acc position?

Bought my first Mazda yesterday, and having studied the manual, I still can't understand how one gets the 'ACC' position (to operate radio, etc) without starting the car.

Push the stsrt button without pressing the brake first. Once for ACC, twice turns on all systems, thrice to turn off.

You can put it in neutral before pushing stop/turning off the car and then put it in park. The Radio and everything else will retain power until you press the stop button or it will turn off after about 30 mins or so.
