Unhappy 2025 CX-5 Interior Lighting Kit

I just got the 2025 CX-5 Turbo Premium and had the dealer install the Interior Lighting Kit. I used to have it in my 2004 Mazda3 and that car had a switch they installed to turn the lights on and off. The dealer didn't install a switch and the lights are only on when the door is open. Once I close the door, they go out.

Did they install it correctly? I thought the whole point of these lights was that the accent lighting would be illuminated all the time at night like it was in my Mazda3. The invoice says they installed the KB7W-V7-050A.

Thanks,
Drew

On both my CX-5 the interior light kit did NOT include a separate switch. Yours my be a bonus or you ask for that switch.

I don't have the CX5 version, but I installed the kit for the MX5 on the MX5 and it does include a switch. Maybe th OP's previous installation was the MX5 version.

It appears there should be a "cancellation switch with sticker". The image below shows it straight from the installation instructions.

Here's the full installation guide PDF for reference.

Thanks @Alexmed2002 for those instructions. The invoice says I have the KB7WV7050A model, which I think is for 2022 and newer. Any chance somebody has the 050A version of those instructions?

I dropped my car off this morning at the dealer and the guy who installed it is pretty sure the lights only go on when the door is open, but I can't imagine that's the case since that's not how it works in other models. I asked if I could get a copy of the installation instructions and he said he'd look into it. I just noticed today though that it does say in the instructions Alexmed2002 sent, "To the dealer: Please turn over these instructions to the customer after installation." So I'll print out that page when I go back this afternoon and see if I can get a copy of the 050A instructions.

Thanks!

- Drew
