Default Interior dome lights

My ‘89 B2600i interior lights only work with the drivers door. Is that normal or is there a door switch on the passenger side too………not that I see one on the drivers door but I know it’s hiding somewhere.

There's a switch for the passenger side too. I'm 100 miles from my truck now, but seem to remember that it's on the body, not on the door. It's a simple spring-loaded "normally open" contact switch; the door pushes the plunger in to complete the circuit to ground.

And you already know the light assembly has 3 positions: always off, always on, and on when a door is open.

Yes and I already cleaned all those contacts and replaced lamps to get them working. And…….OMG, who puts that dang switch way back there one the back/bottom of the door body!?!?!?!? I scoured the front of the doors looking for those switches so I didn’t look stupid asking. I guess it’s my destiny!!😖😁

Good project for tomorrow and thank you for making me look harder whilst rebooting my common sense!

I can't imagine those switches being expensive if you can't get yours working. Mine on my 1988 have never gone bad, but I seem to remember pulling some spares at the parts yard....

The switch cleaned up and works fine. Not getting 12v at the wire even with a bare metal ground. I don’t think it is worth chasing.

In my own 5 vehicles, I have none of them switched to light up when I open a door, just my choice.
