Default 2023 CX5 won’t connect to CarPlay since updating to iOS 26.2

Since I upgraded my iPhone 13 from 18.7.2 to 26.2 it will no longer connect to my car (wired). My wife typically drives the car snd she can still connect using 18.6 but it refuses to connect to mine now. I have not updated the firmware since I bought the car. I need to schedule an appointment anyway so I could have them update the firmware but don’t want to update my wife’s phone until this issue is fixed.

I doubt a firmware update on the car side will help. The CarPlay base vehicle-side firmware hasn't changed since 2022 and are always backwards compatible. Best case scenario a CMU update resets everything and it can connect but the same thing can be accomplished by resetting the Connect and phone and setting up Carplay fresh. If you check the problems online lots of owners are having trouble with Carplay and the last couple ios updates. Apple is working on fixes.

I had similar issues with AA with some of the updates. had nothing to do with the car (it was all about the phone). Updates to AA on the phone finally fixed it for me.

They claimed to not have updated the infotainment firmware but must have or at least reset it because it connected when I got in and all of my settings were lost (I couldn’t just resume playing audio). I will update my wife’s phone now and hopefully it will connect.
