I have read that the 74.00.200 NA N firmware update may enable wireless carplay. Can anyone confirm this is (or isn't) true?

 

Besides a firmware update wouldn't there be also a need for a hardware update so that the infotainment system can connect to the phone wirelessly (I think it is over Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth)? Or is the hardware already there and just needs to be activated?

 

I know on some of the newer ones have a wifi router in the car that lets you turn the car into a hotspot when you sign up for mazda's data service. I'm assuming it uses that.

 

That makes sense, so there might be just a firmware update that will do the trick.

 

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Of course if that does the trick then I'll want to get a wireless charging setup too lol

 

I have a Canadian 2021 CX-5 GT Turbo and it does have wireless Carplay. Works really well. You have to turn on the WiFi to use it. Firmware is 74.00.200 NA N.

Now that is really cool. Looking forward to trading the 19 GT I have now for a 22 GTR next year. Wireless AA would be a nice bonus to the upgrade.

 

It does make things easier!
