If it is indeed the Forward Looking Sensor Camera that seems like a very high price.
The new OEM replacement part for the Forward Looking Sensor Camera GSH767XCXU is around $670 or so and if so inclined, used ones are less than half that price.
If I'm looking at it correctly, the part is not in the grill it is part of the rearview mirror.
It only requires the removal the plastic cover under the mirror housing and the camera easily pops out and the new one goes in, matter of minutes to complete.
It then needs to be calibrated to your vehicle (did the dealer even try to recalibrate the unit to see if that was the issue?).
I find it hard to believe that it would cost over $2000 dollars in labor hours for the install and calibration.
Good luck.
I got more details when I went to pick the car. This is the front sensor behind the Mazda emblem. The diagnostic code is C1A67:78.
They showed me a small chip on the emblem from possibly a rock. It’s a bummer that the sensor is so fragile. The advisor recommended filling with my car insurance to see if they could cover this under comprehensive. I guess that’s worth a shot.
Try to disconnect battery overnight to drain diode, t
hen reconnect in the morning. See if that resets the camara.
if it still fails, cgeck fuse, wiring connections etc. Remove Camara and clean and reinstall. wires and pull on connectors in case lose.
what can you lose, if they are asking 2k.
worst case buy $600 scanner tool that reads codes and recalibrate etc. And install yourself.
Here is the fix just googled it. 3 screen shots attached. Buy the workshop manual if required to recalibrate. See photos
note, Labour cost is 0.8 hours.
if you don't try to fix this yourself first with the help of dealer Workshop manual, then you should be shot twice! 🤣🤣. Don't give up.
