Help, Car wont start
hey can anyone help.
Girlfriends 93 mazda 626 wont start. tries to turn over and sounds like its going to but just doesnt quite make it. all the belts have just been replaced by a mazda dealer mechanic. doesnt appear to be the battery as i recharged it for a bit and still did the same thing. any ideas.

RE: Help, Car wont start
OK, you need three things to start a car... Air, fuel and spark.
If the starter sounds like it is turning the engine over normally then I would suspect fuel or spark... As you're not getting a miss it is more likely the distributor than the spark plugs...
So, test. Pull one spark plug, lay it on the engine and have someone try and turn it over... Do you see spark? If so, then you're probably not getting fuel. If not, then I suspect your distributor.
If you're not getting fuel it could be that your fuel pump has failed, or that your fuel filter is clogged.... Someone else might be able to tell you how to test that lot...
It could even be something as simple as a loose wire that the dealer unplugged and didn't plug back in properly. I'd double check the connections on anything you think he might have knocked.
I hope that this helps,
Z.
