I have a 88 Mazda 929 with a 3.0 v6 automatic trans in it. Only 123000 miles and runs perfect. Well ran perfect... the other day I was driving when the motor just died. Battery still on, all interior lighting, radio, sub and amp all working. I pulled over and tried to start but the motor only turns over. I've checked battery and fuses and all look fine. After testing the fuel pump I realized it had stopped running. I checked the harness and fuse points for any voltage drops and none were found. But the pump loses all power past the connector to the pump itself. I'm at a loss at the moment and don't know where to start next. Anyone have any ideas? This is my daily car so im trying to repair asap.

also I have since replaced fuel pump but still no power.

 

What happens if you supply a external power supply & earth to the new fuel pump?

 

I tried that and the pump ran fine. Once I out it back in the tank it dosent run though.

 

If it runs outside the tank, why won't it run in the tank? Are you still using an external power supply & earth?
