I wanted a car starter in my new Mazda CX5. I was debating over spending almost $200 more for an app based. Having it on my BMW 435i made me think the app would be able to do more and it would grow as the technology grew.
Was I wrong. Within a year I get notified that since the MMS was built on 3G technology it was obsolete! What? You built an app around 3G technology! You had no migration plan to 4G? Zoom-zoom? More like Fail-fail.
This is not my first Mazda. More like my 20th. I had a RX-7 when I was younger, many Mazda 626's, outfitted my wife and kids with Mazda proteges and now they have Mazda's 3. My wife and I both had the 6 at one point or another and I still have mine.

I always thought Mazda was always a forward thinker but this sucks.

To top if off I had to complain to Mazda USA and my local dealership to get an App based version as Mazda told me originally they would give me a FOB based replacement for free. But I spent $200 more on YOUR app based system. The other offerings were for a $1,000 off a new car, mine is a 2019. I am getting a 3rd party app version but my dealership had to kick in money.

I am very disappointed in Mazda. Not only were they lacking in their innovation and tech forward thinking they also barely gave me any kind of refund. I also asked for a free jacket for my trouble. They declined. $70 bucks on their website was not worth the extra $200 I paid I guess.
