When I first moved here from Pa, I had to sell my cars so I had no transportation at first. I thought a bike might be a good idea.
Good weather all year round (so I thought,) and mild traffic. I even went for my license.
Then I started looking around and saw how people drive. People moving in from all over w/different ideas of the traffic laws, and that's not including the natives. And now traffic is murder during most of the day, and w/so many not paying attention, on their cell phones, playing with the stereo, etc.. I have to be on my toes all the time in my car. I can't imagine how stiff and aware I'd have to be on a bike. It would not be any fun, so why do it? That's my thinking anyway.
In NYC, Manhattan, and I haven't been there/hung out there in quite a while now, it would be suicide for a new rider. Driving there was a whole different experience for me back in the early '80's, and I had a friend who had grown up there to teach me the ropes in the beginning. Honking your horn, making RH turns from the left lane and LH turns from the right, etc....

I always wanted a bike, but I think I'd be too nervous in Michigan with all the ******** and dumb people not paying attention, especially on the freeway and since I'm so close to Detroit...Still might do it though When the 6 is closer to being paid off.

Oh yeah, the city has its own form of driving. If I have to go through Manhattan these days, I limit myself the the West Side expressway and the Henry Hudson. Even then, if I'm going past 179th, I may as well just go to Jersey and take the Turnpike to the Palisades Pkwy...

The suburban drivers are the worst here, though. Seating for 8, but only one person in the vehicle.

OK, so I'm potentially adding fuel to the fire, but I thought you might like to know Jaimie, that your BESTEST FRIEND (and mine too) was back today.
He got in 2 posts and I got 'em outta' here!! different SN as all his others were banned weeks ago.

Rich, can't you just IP ban him? That would solve the problem, until he either switches ISPs or uses a friend's computer.

Nope. Won't work. He's using at least three different IP's.
I can ban 'em now (praying- thank you, thank you, thank you,) and I can check 'em, but I can't ban the IP.
For what it's worth, I am on vacation this week with sh*tty weather, so I got him in minutes. He was actually still online and I saw that he had gotten and read the *no permission* message. I love when that happens.

Haha, so satisfying. I love when people do that, and then PM you or another moderator about it angrily. Hilarity ensues.

Oh, btw Rich, I've called off the car hunt...after taking a second look at my financial state, it's not fiscally sound to try to buy another car right now. I figure I'll wait 'till I graduate, when I have more cash (and more time to make it). By then, I'm aiming to afford a '06ish Mazda6i.
