random thread to talk about whatever
Let's give it a post relating to cars. A friend of a friend in Bay Ridge is looking to get rid of his 240SX (he's a mechanic) for about 2 grand. I dunno the year yet, all I know that it's a 5 speed...and white.
I've heard it's in good condition. I wonder if I should jump on the offer if it is...I've never driven RWD.

Double post...
I've found a Focus that looks enticing. I'm thinking of calling the dealership and taking it for a drive this weekend. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e&rdpage=thumb

Picky, picky, picky....
I thought you'd had bad expereinces w/the dealer and so what's wrong w/a private seller? Here's a guy that wants to sell his(?) car. Here's a dealer that's in it for the $$$. You just might get a good deal from an individual... better than a dealer. I've bought most of my cars from PS's.
Any car that has 90+k in 2, 2-1/2 yrs has long miles on it. It might be worth a look? It certainly looks clean!
What's wrong w/a Civic?
Yeah, pictures would be nice. Perhaps you could e-mail the dealer and see if they can shoot you some?
Just trying to help you out, Man. A 2003 Focus for 7g's doesn't sound like all that good a deal to me either (6yrs old,) but I searched for cars in that price range for you.
You're right about the dealer, but I don't have 7G's in my pocket at the moment...remember? I was planning on trading in the Impala to lessen the burden on myself.
The 6 look clean...but I'm leery of any car with that many miles in such a short time.
There's nothing yet everything wrong with a Civic, if you get my meaning.
If I had the cash on hand, I would go for that SE-R...20K miles! But I don't, so I'm a bit limited. I appreciate the help though...while the Focus I've seen IS low mileage, it's also rather spartan: drums in the rear, power nothing (except steering), no ABS.

I tell you what VB....I've been really impressed with this used 2000 Taurus I'm driving these days. I paid $4200 cash for it with $90K miles - it's got 133,000+ on it now and still rides/drives like new and has been VERY reliable (the engine runs smoother than the similar 3.0L in my wife's 83,000+ mile Mazda6.) Pre-2000MY had some trans issues, but they were resolved on the 2000+ models - get the 24V. I know a couple people with 200K+ miles still running strong. You can find plenty of them in the market in the $3500-$5K range that will be dependable, cheap transportation. Mine gets 24 mpg average and only costs me $400/year for liability insurance.
