With old cars I find their value becomes worthless (for most) till the parts dry up then the price goes thru the roof. If only one had a cryslal ball and could see what would happen with muscle cars from the 60's and 70's. I have a collection with only 1 junk car rusting away and 1 unfinished project car I probably will never finish due to lack of motivation.

I was getting ready to agree, then my 1970 El Camino started growling at me from the driveway. 😆

What is your junk car? And what is the project car?

I get it... I get burned out and switch projects often.
I do R/C crawlers and nitro 4wd stadium trucks, Pew pew toy repair and refinishing, video gaming, and that is just my "inside the house" options. 😆

When it feels like work, I quit. I move to something else until it is interesting again. This Civic is one of those things. 😄

Truth is I have an anniversary coming up soon. Wife drove this car in our early relationship. She recently voiced missing it. Done deal.... 🫡

Someone cheated because they have seen me mention that car a few times on this forum . lol
The Goat is great looking . One of my GTOs was the same year but Burgandy hardtop and 4 speed .
I can’t tell in the picture are the wheels American Racing or Cragars’s or some of the resent clones ? I don’t exactly remember the spoke differences between brands like I use to . They are both great either way.

As for 2 vs 4 doors , an American HOT ROD has 2 doors , even the station wagons lol
In my time if you drove a 4 door you were looked at as driving the family car . Or the car your parents bought for you.lol

My historic car collection.
1978 Mitsubishi Lancer fitted with Starion turbo. Sold as a Plymouth Arrow in the states
1982 Mitsubishi Starion
3 1967 Toyota Crowns. One is rare S model only 20 sold in Australia and very few sold globally. Needs a lot of body work.
1993 Holden VR V8 ex ploice chaser
1990 Mazda MX5
The later toy is a 1997 Mitsubishi EVO4 track only car
Then the daily drivers
Thats enough to keep me active and poor.
Wife has a sewing and embroidery machines so I figure that's a fair balance.

I will have to read back through that one, later! Looks great. I recently sold a '78 xr500 that I went through. Hard to find timing chain guides now.

Only "bike" in project stage right now for me is a 1988 TRX 250x the 4 year broken production one. The 4 stroke, kick start only small quad. I have it in bare cases/bare frame, right now. Stalled at the big bore or not stage. I couldn't decide to bore the cases or not. It is my personal favorite, ATV.... not sure why. Only the frame is painted, and A arms/swing arm rebuilt and painted.

Your port work makes my hands cold! 😃

I wish we had the full Holden series here.

The 67 Crown's... older than I, is that a 2TC or 3TC? I have read about the S model. Good find!

BTW, the embroidery machine only counts if you work on it. 😆 I have a seamstress Grandmother. Hand quilting, wedding cakes, wedding and recital dresses...
🤢🤮🤮🤮 Poor little fella's they smile like stupid. 😆

Callisto is right, my Grandfather was my best friend in the world (even as a teenager). The 4 doors and wagons were the "family" car. Or "Moms" ride. Get you laughed at in the drive-in cinema or car hop bar. Even the local constables were suspicious of a kid in a 4 door. Your shoes better be shiny! And, he was a Ducati lover.

My family grew sugar cane and made molasses by the quart and gallon. An 8n Ford with trailer was my ride @ 6 years old. My job was to keep the trailer close to the machetes. (Barely able to stand on the clutch) At 7 they bought me a Yamaha 80cc 2 stroke motorcycle new, all downhill from there!
He had a 4th grade education and one of the smartest men, that I ever met. Grandpa went from farm boy to certified welder, pump tech, electrician, plumber, and carpenter. Dirt track for fun. His reputation landed him head of town maintenance. FDA shut down the molasses in the 90's.

I guess for me... the forums fill the gap he left behind. He bought my El Camino for me @ 15 yrs old AND let me drive it home alone. 😃

Well it looks like the US car makers considered Australians to be conservative so sent 4 door cars. There are many 2 door ones but that's probably because they had no 4 door option. Our local (now gone) Ford and Holden did make a few 2 door cars but not many in the big picture and they are worth big money now. The crown's are MS45 models not sure what you meant with being 2 and 3 TC. Some of those cars made in the US particularly the Chryslers are real **** haulers. 2 tons and factory product running 13's in the 60's was amazing. Our local cars were really crap in those days. Spent many years working for an import company building Chev and Chrysler engines very few Fords but loved doing it till the company collapsed over a family dispute and it all fell apart and we all went our own way. Love Honda's particularly the ones with Vtech. Had many on the dyno and just loved the sound when that Vtech turned on and the power shot up.

Is this a test? 😁

I am the opposite. I like the old Hondas, but NOT vtec.
It is great for fuel mileage. But that's about it.
That sound... after the vtec engagement... is what is should sound like all the time. But not with only half the valves working.
If you pin the rockers to stay engaged. The ECU is not programmed to run it. Bummer for the shade tree.

So what is a Crown?

I thought, I knew. 😉

Over here, the 2TC and 3TC were Toyota 4 cylinders for RWD car applications. Lots of years. "Half a Hemi" as they were referred to. I do not know about Toyota older than that era. 🤔

I have some reading to do. Thanks 😉

Managed to get the good block/bad crank short block disassembled and engraved to identify everything's orientation. It is sitting overnight in the building as a bare block because I couldn't locate my hone before dark. 🤨
I will go get another one in the morning and begin cleaning everything up and staging for reassembly.

What luck...finding plasti-gauge but not a hone! 😒

I will get some pics tomorrow, as I wash it all down. Things are not really going as planned lately. Fingers crossed for an assembled engine by tomorrow night.

Again, this project is nothing special. But why not share...

Got this pair of torque mounts, today. They are dirt cheap and far better than the factory torque mounts. It was either these or poly insert the stock mounts. I am immediately aware that the shipped hardware will not work. Easy enough to remedy, though.

Also... received this cheap coilover set, today. I originally was looking for some poly round stock to carve out some fresh bumpstops for the struts. (I hate the whammies!) And, I noticed these coilovers were only double what the poly stock would cost me.
I started checking the specs out of curiosity. They are twin tube, and equal spring rate. Also the bottom mount portion is adjustable for ride height and the upper portion is adjustable for spring preload. No damping or rebound adjustment. Did I mention CHEAPPPP?
